Goals and Prerequisites

Goals:

Students learn how to use photography and free 3D modeling software from Autodesk to create a 3D digital model of their own head or any simple objects at home. Students can take their 3D model further by creating a 2D architectural drawing, just like the drawings that CyArk created for Mount Rushmore. The tutorial document should be opened in Adobe Reader, which can be downloaded for free here.

Prerequisites:

Familiarity navigating new software programs

Utilize Autodesk to create 3D digital models and 2D architectural drawings of ordinary objects.

Procedure:

Follow the 2 tutorials in the accompanying Activity.pdf for a detailed overview of the process (with photos and tips). The document must be opened with Adobe Reader, which can be downloaded for free here.

Teacher evaluates student participation, cooperation in pairs, and individual effort in completing the assignment.
